Background

At the May 31, 2021 meeting, City Council requested staff to report back cost for installation and yearly maintenance of beach volleyball courts in different parks around the city for public use to be included for debate for 2022 budget.

At the Sarnia City Council Budget meeting on December 7, 2021, Council approved $150,000 in funding for the installation of Beach Volley Courts.

Locations for Consideration

Based on amenities and operational needs, staff have identified the following three potential locations for new beach volleyball courts:

• Mike Weir Park (Close to the Beach)
• Centennial Park
• Canatara Park (West End)

Public Consultation

Through the public consultation efforts, staff are looking for input on the following items through the online survey:

• Proposed locations for beach volleyball courts;
• Suggestions for alternate locations;
• Additional amenities to be considered; and
• Operating considerations including permit requirements.

Public Feedback

Deadline for public feedback was March 14, 2022.
