Tecumseh Skate Park Improvements
Skatepark Design
Check out the short video below for the design of the new Tecumseh Skatepark, based off consultations with our community.
Background
The existing Tecumseh Skate Park will now be moving forward through a community design exercise, as part of the overall revitalization of the Norma Cox Youth Centre and Tecumseh Park that is actively underway. The existing equipment at the park for skate activities is provided through on-grade features that are at end of life.
Public Design Exercise Launching
Staff have retained the Canadian Ramp Company to provide public engagement and design services for the project. The first public engagement process began with a public online survey, available from February 28 – March 14, 2022.
Canadian Ramp Company has completed a preliminary design for the new Skate Park within Tecumseh Park, based on the survey they conducted February 28 – March 14, 2022, and are now looking for further feedback around their preliminary design from our community; available via the survey link below until May 5, 2022.
Canadian Ramp Company is also planning on hosting a Community Forum in the very near future for anyone who would like to hear about more details. Date coming soon!
This public engagement process is intended to reach key stakeholders and youth in our community to maximize future use, and support community ownership over this great recreational enhancement.
It is anticipated that, subject to a final approved design this spring and contractor availability, the construction of this revitalized skate park project will begin in the fall of 2022 to permit full use of the enhanced skate park in the spring of 2023.
